Trump's Deal with Putin: Czech President Highlights Risks for Ukraine.

Czech President Petr Pavel expressed concern over a possible attempt by future U.S. President Donald Trump to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.

He stated this during his speech at the opening of the IISS Prague Defence Summit conference in Prague.

According to Pavel, such a deal may not align with the interests of Ukraine and Europe, as it would likely include concessions in favor of Russia, such as the transfer of some occupied territories or Ukraine's refusal to join NATO for the next 20 years.

Pavel also condemned the slow response of Western allies, which allowed Russian troops to continue their advance on the front. He noted that while several countries, including the Czech Republic, supported Ukraine from the outset, the provision of military assistance was too slow. This resulted in the situation at the front becoming disadvantageous for Ukraine.

Pavel expressed doubts about the possibility of successfully achieving peace on terms that would be acceptable to Ukraine and Europe. He also believes that China, India, and Europe should be involved in any diplomatic agreements.
