CEO Anthropic on DeepSeek: The US and China are Approaching a Critical Confrontation in the Field of AI.

The US and China are Competing for Hegemony in the Field of Artificial Intelligence
CEO of Anthropic Dario Amodei presented an analysis of the situation in artificial intelligence, highlighting the importance of the geopolitical confrontation between the US and China. He also examined the achievements of the Chinese company DeepSeek and their impact on the AI industry.
According to him, in the coming years the world may witness two possible scenarios. In the first case, if China obtains the necessary number of chips, both countries will have powerful artificial intelligence systems, leading to significant progress. In the second case, if China is unable to acquire millions of chips, only the US and its allies will have access to the most powerful artificial intelligence models.
Amodei emphasizes that the crucial issue of export control will determine what kind of world it will be - unipolar or bipolar. He notes that creating artificial intelligence that surpasses human ability requires millions of chips and a lot of money.
The Anthropic analysis also addresses the achievements of DeepSeek, which released the DeepSeek-V3 model, nearly equal in performance to American models but at a lower cost. The analyst underscores the importance of responding to technological challenges and the ability to quickly close gaps.
An example of developing a universal genius-polymath is cited, capable of making scientific breakthroughs in areas unreachable for humans. The emergence of virtual experts and personal assistants based on artificial intelligence was also previously forecasted.
