“Women's Disputes”. In the Russian Federation, a chess player was expelled from the federation for trying to poison her opponent with mercury.


Dagestani chess player Amina Abakarova was expelled from the republic's federation after experts confirmed that she tried to poison her opponent Umaiganat Osmanova with mercury. This was announced by the Dagestani sports official Sajid Sajidov. According to him, this is unsportsmanlike behavior, and the law enforcement authorities will give a legal assessment of Amina's subsequent actions.
The chess player Umaiganat Osmanova herself said that Abakarova did not apologize to her and does not even consider herself guilty. Abakarova believes that she acted correctly. The culprit of the incident herself refused to comment on the event.
About the incident
On August 2, a championship of Dagestan in chess was held in Makhachkala. Before the start of the competition, Amina Abakarova studied the list of opponents and then poured mercury near Osmanova's board and smeared it on the table. After some Time, Umaiganat felt unwell, but she continued to play and eventually became a prize-winner of the competition. The mercury was noticed almost immediately, it was collected and handed over to the police. It was established that the culprit was Amina Abakarova.
The previous tournament caused Abakarova's resentment towards Osmanova, as they scored the same number of points, but the victory was awarded to Umaiganat based on additional indicators.
