Zelensky revealed details of the telephone conversation with Lukashenko regarding the Russian invasion
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, spoke about a telephone conversation with Alexander Lukashenko that took place in the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, Lukashenko called a few days after the start of the war and apologized for the missile strikes launched from Belarus. The President of Ukraine quotes Lukashenko's words: 'Volodya, believe me, it's not me. I'm not in control. It's just missiles, it's Putin.' Zelensky emphasizes that he has witnesses to these words.
In response, Zelensky told Lukashenko: 'You are also a murderer, I am just saying.' He also asked how Lukashenko could allow missile launches from Belarusian territory. When the Belarusian leader insisted that it was impossible to fight the Russians, Zelensky reminded him that Ukraine has never fought with Russia.
During the conversation, the possibility of a retaliatory strike was also discussed. Zelensky quotes Lukashenko: 'Well then, strike back. Hit the oil refinery, you know how much I value it.' Zelensky notes that the conversation concerned the Mozyr oil refinery.
Volodymyr Zelensky also criticized the policy of delayed sanctions against Russia.
