Saudi Arabia will allow alcohol at the 2034 World Cup

The government of Saudi Arabia has decided to allow alcohol consumption at the 2034 World Cup, breaking a previously established ban. Earlier, the country’s ambassador to the United Kingdom stated that alcohol would be prohibited at the tournament.

"We don’t want to change our culture for anyone. Can’t you live without drinking?" the diplomat emphasized.

It is planned to allow alcohol only in certain tourist areas, while the general ban on consumption in public places will remain in effect. Drinks with an alcohol content over 20% will still be prohibited.

Help in competitive struggle

This step will allow the government to compete for tourists with the UAE and Bahrain, where alcohol consumption is permitted in some tourist facilities. It is planned to sell wine, beer, and cider in licensed places, including five-star hotels.

Confirmation from a volunteer

Oleh Syimoroz, a participant in the volunteer movement who lost his legs, revealed information that refutes the claims of former Dynamo player Oleksandr Aliyev about his service in the 129th battalion of the 112th brigade.

"I must refute this brazen lie. Since I know this battalion of our brigade, these are heroic guys who earned glory in battles, many of whom have fallen, and I cannot just calmly watch as this drunkard tries to undermine their merits," emphasized Syimoroz.

He confirmed that Aliyev had never been in the mentioned battalion of the 112th brigade and, in particular, did not participate in hostilities.

The opening of alcohol consumption in Saudi Arabia during the 2034 World Cup is an important step towards attracting tourists and the country's competitiveness with other states in the region. Also, the public statement from a volunteer regarding the falsification of information about the service of former football player Aliyev evokes a negative reaction from the public regarding the attitude towards military events and servicemen.
