The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reported that additional payments from the World Food Programme of the UN will be extended until the end of May 2025 for pensioners, individuals without a pension entitlement, and people with disabilities.

According to a project jointly implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy, the Pension Fund, and the WFP UN, over 500,000 Ukrainians receive aid amounting to 272 million UAH every month. The size of the assistance is determined as the difference between the existing pension or social payment and the sum of 3250 UAH. For example, if a person receives a social payment of 2700 UAH, they will receive an additional 550 UAH from the WFP UN.

Recipients do not need to additionally apply to receive this assistance. The money is automatically transferred in the same way as pensions or social payments. The financial support project for vulnerable categories of the population started in August 2023.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ authorized office must reduce support for new internally displaced persons in Ukraine due to the cessation of American assistance and a general reduction in donor funding, Reuters reports.

'Some programs that we previously implemented thanks to the generosity of the U.S. are now suspended,' said UNHCR representative in Ukraine Carolina Lindholm Billing. Among them are psychosocial support, materials for emergency shelter, and cash assistance.

Last year funding from the U.S. accounted for 40% of the UNHCR budget. Currently, the organization has received only 25% of the required amount - $3.32 billion to support 8.2 million people in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of 2025, about 9000 people who fled from shelling have stopped at UNHCR transit centers in Pavlograd and Sumy. From August 2024 to March 2025, more than 200,000 people were evacuated or displaced from frontline areas, the agency reports.

It should be noted that pensioners over 65 years of age receive guaranteed supplements of 40% of the minimum wage. With a minimum wage of 8000 UAH, the minimum pension is 3200 UAH.

The Pension Fund of Ukraine reported that on April 25, 2025, it completed financing pension payments for the current month. The total amount of funds allocated for pensions in April was 67.4 billion UAH.

Some Ukrainian pensioners may receive a one-Time payment equal to ten times their monthly pensions. To receive such financial assistance, it is necessary to have a full insurance record and be an educator who has completed their work activities.

The highest pensions are recorded in Kyiv, where the average payment is 8708 UAH. There is also a high level of pensions in Donetsk region (7814 UAH), Luhansk region (7314 UAH), Dnipropetrovsk region (7082 UAH), and Kyiv region (6671 UAH).
