A veteran from Ivano-Frankivsk, Vasyl Kazimirko, decided to take down the banner featuring his own image, which was placed on the Alley of the Missing. This news was shared by the Tlumach City Council, informs Glavkom.
Military man Vasyl Kazimirko, a 58-year-old resident of the village of Nyzhniy, Tlumach city community, was in Russian captivity for three years.
Vasyl Kazimirko served in Mariupol as a driver-paramedic in the 3rd automotive division of the 8th separate automotive sanitary company. He was captured on April 12, 2022, in Mariupol. He was exchanged on February 5, 2025, in a 150 for 150 format.
It is also worth noting that Roman Grybov, a marine and author of the famous phrase about the Russian warship, learned about his 'death' while in captivity. He was shocked and could not imagine how it affected his relatives, especially his mother and wife. He shared this in his interview for Glavkom.
'While I was in captivity, something terrible happened to my loved ones, especially since they initially thought I was dead. We learned that we all 'died' when we landed in Crimea. Russian journalists approached us and said: 'Do you know that your president 'buried' you yesterday?'. I was scared and immediately thought: what happened to my family? Knowing my mother, I was afraid she would do something to herself. My wife also thought I was dead.'
