In Odesa, a serviceman recorded "draft dodgers" as mentally ill.

A serviceman in Odesa was found earning money from those trying to avoid military service by using false diagnoses. He approached active servicemen and civilians, offering help for 16 thousand dollars. With the help of acquaintances in a psychiatric hospital, he provided fake diagnoses that allowed individuals to evade conscription and be discharged from service. In case of non-payment, he threatened the mobilization of civilians and the sending of active servicemen to the front line.
The criminal was detained while he was receiving another "operation" in the amount of 16 thousand dollars. Currently, investigations are underway to establish the connections of this man with the military recruitment centers and persons who used the illegal scheme. Searches have also been carried out, and documents from the psychiatric hospital that issued false diagnoses were seized.
The serviceman has been notified of suspicion of receiving illegal benefits by a public official. He has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting a bail of 1 million hryvnias.
Earlier, there have already been cases of attacks on servicemen checking the documents of those not serving. Almost 70 thousand individuals who evaded service were wanted in Kyiv. Since the beginning of 2025, 9,658 proceedings have been opened due to violations of military accounting, which is almost equal to the number of proceedings for the entire year of 2023.
