For the first time in 28 years. The Ukrainian futsal team reached the semi-finals of the 2024 World Championship.


The Ukrainian futsal team achieved a significant victory over the Venezuela team in the quarterfinals of the futsal world championship. The score was 9:4. This is the first Time since 1996 that the Ukrainians managed to reach the top four teams in the world.
In previous years, at the 2004 and 2008 World Championships, the Ukrainian futsal team reached the second group stage (top-8), in 2012 they reached the quarterfinals, and in 2016 they were eliminated in the round of 16.
In the 5th minute of the game, the Ukrainian team opened the score with a goal by Danylo Abakshyn. However, a minute later, Venezuela equalized. Subsequently, Ukraine took the lead again by scoring two more goals. Venezuela equalized, but Ukraine finished the first half with a 4-goal advantage.
At the beginning of the second half, Ukraine scored two more goals, and then both teams changed the score. Ukraine finished the game with a score of 9:4.
In the next stage of the futsal world championship, the Ukrainian team will face the Brazilian team, which defeated Morocco. This match will take place on Wednesday, October 2.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian futsal team won against Angola with a score of 7:2 and against Afghanistan with a score of 4:1, which guaranteed them a place in the playoffs of the tournament.
