Ukraine and WFP Expand Cooperation in Social Support.

Cooperation between the Ministry of Social Policy and WFP for the Development of Social Support in Ukraine
Since early August 2023, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), has implemented additional financial support for Ukrainians, especially for pensioners with low pensions, people with disabilities, and individuals who are not entitled to pension benefits and are in conflict zones. As of December 2024, this project has been expanded to 9 frontline areas. This has allowed over 315 thousand Ukrainians to receive additional financial assistance of 216 million hryvnias every month.
In addition, the initiative to use digital technologies for effective targeted social support is another important step. This project, which started operating in 2022, utilizes modern digital solutions for accuracy and timeliness in providing social assistance to citizens. This allows for real-Time responses to citizens' needs, without delays even in challenging situations.
'Our cooperation with the World Food Programme confirms that modern and effective humanitarian response practices can be implemented in Ukraine... Digital tools already today help us respond timely and address needs, and enhancing cooperation will increase the effectiveness of these solutions and make them more accessible to those who need it most.'
- stated Oksana Zholnovich, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.
The joint efforts of the Ministry of Social Policy and WFP aim to improve social assistance in Ukraine, especially for the most vulnerable populations living in conflict zones. The implementation of digital technologies and the expansion of financial support help promptly and effectively meet the needs of citizens and provide them with the necessary humanitarian assistance.
During the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the World Food Programme, social support mechanisms are being improved, and modern digital solutions are being implemented for effective assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population. This contributes to improving the quality of life for Ukrainians, especially those in difficult situations, in frontline areas and conflict zones.Read also
