At least 67 people died in a stampede at charity events in Nigeria.

On December 18, at a school in Oyo state, at least 35 children died. The reasons for the tragedy are still unknown, but it is suspected that it occurred due to the promise of receiving gifts and prizes. The organizers of the event have already been detained, the governor of the state reported.

On December 21, 22 people died in Anambra state, and another 10 in Abuja. In the capital, over 1,000 people gathered at a church to receive clothing and food. Some of the deceased in Abuja spent the entire night outdoors in the cold to be first at the charity event.

It is reported that such problems arise due to the organizers' negligence regarding safety. The President of Nigeria has urged the authorities to avoid failures during such events, and the police have required organizers to obtain prior permission.

It is worth noting that around 84 million people live in Nigeria, who are in poverty, and 11 million children suffer from chronic malnutrition.

A tragedy also occurred in Nigeria on the water, where at least 20 people died after a wooden vessel exploded. Additionally, recently Muslim terrorists carried out an attack that resulted in the death of 18 people and 48 injured.
