EU Summit: What was decided regarding sanctions against the Russian Federation, negotiations with Ukraine on accession, and financial support.

The European Union supported Ukraine

Twenty-six countries of the European Union continued negotiations with Ukraine and approved financial assistance in the amount of 30.6 billion euros. Hungary remained outside this decision due to the veto of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

A correspondent of 'European Truth' from Brussels reports that the EU summit on June 26 did not achieve full unity due to Hungary's blockage. However, the rest of the European countries expressed their support for Ukrainian integration.

EU member states supported Ukraine in choosing its future and emphasized the right of the country to choose European integration. The document, supported by 26 EU countries, noted the successes of Ukrainian reforms related to EU accession and the work of Ukrainian institutions.

Financial support and sanctions against Russia

The agreement provided for financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 30.6 billion euros, part of which has already been allocated through various programs. EU leaders also decided to extend sanctions against Russia for another six months, although planning for new sanctions was delayed due to gas supply issues after 2027.

The planned vote on new sanctions was postponed by Slovakia due to gas supply issues after 2027. However, other countries are ready to support restrictions in relations with Russia.

Leaders of EU countries demand guarantees and support to mitigate the consequences of the cessation of energy supplies. Latvia has also expressed readiness to tighten sanctions despite difficulties in coordination.

Ukraine will receive financial assistance from the European Union for economic development and support for reforms. Support and positive assessment of Ukrainian measures for euro-integration is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
