Reform of high school: The Ministry of Education clarified the future of gymnasiums and lyceums.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported that inaccurate information regarding the high school reform is spreading in school chats. The lack of truthful and clear information about the reform is the cause of this spread. Therefore, the Ministry of Education provided clarification regarding the changes that the reform entails.
The main goal of the reform is to give students the opportunity to choose their learning profile and the corresponding subjects or courses. Educational institutions will now offer not only humanitarian profiles but also other areas that expand opportunities for students. The school network will be changed, and high school students will learn in large lyceums. This will allow for the formation of specialized groups and ensure the full workload for teachers.
Innovations in the education system
The created lyceums will operate on different principles, such as variable groups or modular training. For example, one subject will be studied more intensively over the course of the semester.
Gymnasiums and elementary schools will not be closed. Some of them may be reprofiled as lyceums for high school students, but this does not mean their closure. For example, in the Sheptytskyi community in Lviv region, reorganization is already underway, but no institutions have been closed.
The elementary school will remain close to the child's place of residence in accordance with the legislation. The requirements regarding the number of students in classes will also remain unchanged.
The high school reform aims to provide more opportunities for students to choose their learning profile and develop the necessary skills for future professional activities.
