Germany changes conditions for Ukrainians: more money and new responsibilities.

Germany has decided to extend the residence rights for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025. At the same Time, the government has made certain changes to the entry rules and conditions for obtaining financial assistance.
According to the data from the Federal Government of Germany, since the beginning of the war on February 24, 2022, the country has accepted over 1.12 million Ukrainians who have received temporary protection.
Ukrainian refugees in Germany have access to material and medical assistance, free housing with partial payment of utilities, free language courses, education, and the opportunity for official employment.
From January 2024, the amount of payments for refugees increased by 12%. Currently, single adults and single parents receive 563 euros per month, married couples – 506 euros each, and children under 5 years old – 357 euros. Payments for children aged 6-13 amount to 390 euros, while teenagers aged 14-17 receive 471 euros per month.
There is also assistance for school supplies: 130 euros are paid at the beginning of the school year, and an additional 65 euros in the second semester.
Mandatory registration of cars with Ukrainian license plates is introduced if they stay in the country for more than 12 months. This rule will come into effect from October 2024.
Ukrainian refugees have a special legal status that ensures automatic extension of temporary protection in accordance with the European Union directive.
It should be noted that the program for the employment of Ukrainian refugees in Germany has failed.
