The second son of writer Povalyeva, brother of Roman Ratushny, has died at the front.


Roman Ratushny's brother, a well-known activist, and son of writer Svitlana Povalyeva - Vasyl Ratushny - has died in the war with Russian occupiers. Povalyeva announced this on social media.
The soldier died during a combat mission.
On February 27, 2025, during a combat sortie from a direct hit by an FPV drone, the UAV pilot 'Madyar's birds' Vasyl Ratushny was killed. 'My eldest son, my life,' Povalyeva stated.
Let us remind you that activist Roman Ratushny, Vasyl's brother, died during the war in June 2022. He participated in the battle against Russian occupiers near Izium in the Kharkiv region. Both brothers were participants in the Revolution of Dignity.
Roman Ratushny - a well-known activist and fighter for the preservation of Kyiv's and Ukraine's historical and cultural heritage. He is the founder and head of the NGO 'Protect Protasiiv Yar.' Ratushny's death shocked many Ukrainians, regardless of the fact that most of them knew him only from social media.
Svitlana Povalyeva - a famous Ukrainian writer and journalist who worked in television, radio, electronic and print publications. She is a laureate of the poetry contests 'Young Wine,' the All-Ukrainian literary competition of the publishing house 'Smoloskyp' and the young artists' competition 'Start' from the 'Renaissance' foundation.
Povalyeva is a participant in numerous literary-musical and literary festivals, as well as in three revolutions (On the Granite, Orange, and Dignity) and protest actions 'Ukraine without Kuchma' and 'Linguistic Maidan.'
