The Ministry of Education initiates changes in mobilization for certain educators of extracurricular educational institutions.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to expand the right to deferment from mobilization for educators of extracurricular educational institutions working in priority areas. This was announced by Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi. According to Lisovyi, the changes apply to educators of circles in the fields of scientific-technical, research-experimental, military-patriotic, and eco-naturalist directions. Only those educators working in state or communal institutions will have the right to deferment.
The proposal from the Ministry of Education and Science has already been approved at a government meeting and will now be considered by the Verkhovna Rada. Lisovyi noted that this rule applies only to educators of circles who, starting in 2025, combine the position of circle educator with their main job and continue to hold this position.
The Minister emphasized that extracurricular education in the specified areas plays an important role in the development of Ukraine’s technological, scientific, and economic potential. It helps to form the necessary skills for the future development of children and stimulates interest in natural sciences and the choice of technical professions.
Lisovyi stressed that involving youth in STEM education, scientific and engineering activities, and fostering civic engagement is a strategic task for the state. He also emphasized that supporting natural and technological education is key to economic development after victory.
It is also mentioned that some students may lose their deferment from mobilization due to bill No. 13193, which the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. This bill aims to prevent the use of education as a means of evading mobilization.
