Mike Johnson re-elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives after dramatic voting.

Mike Johnson re-elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives
Mike Johnson has been re-elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives, although he faced opposition from some Republicans. After gathering the necessary 218 votes, he convinced two hesitant members, Ralph Norman and Keith Self, to vote for him.
According to Axios, Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana who has held the Speaker position since 2023, faced dissatisfaction from the right wing of his party throughout his 14-month term.
'Just before the voting on Friday, Johnson posted on social media a list of promises regarding spending cuts. He announced the creation of a working group of 'independent experts' to examine spending reforms and prepare a report, as well as his intent to direct committees to 'aggressively' review federal funding.'
Opponents shifted their position due to support from newly elected President Trump, who urged allies not to cancel the vote to avoid conflict and a threat to Johnson's victory in the January 6 elections.
Thus, Mike Johnson will continue to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives and stated his readiness to implement financial reforms and spending cuts.
