The Kremlin has two goals. ISW analysts explained why the Russian Federation intensified strikes on Ukraine.

Russian troops attacked Ukraine overnight from May 24 to 25
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops have been conducting attacks on Ukraine for eight months. Drone and missile strikes have resulted in at least 12 deaths and 60 injuries. Russian President Vladimir Putin is using these actions for psychological pressure on Ukrainians and the international community.
«Russian officials are trying to demand concessions from Ukraine, although their demands have not changed over the past three years of war», analysts explained.
It is noted that the losses of resources and military effectiveness of Russia have led to a significant slowdown in their successes in the war in Ukraine. However, Putin is trying to draw public attention to external threats and heightened rhetoric.
«Russia is trying to use aggressive rhetoric and strikes to cover its losses and entice Ukraine into despair», experts noted.
Situation Analysis
Russian military attacks on Ukraine demonstrate that Putin is trying to force Ukrainians to abandon their aspirations for freedom and independence through violence and threats. This shows a further escalation of the conflict and the need for an adequate response from the international community.
