The US approved maintenance services for F-16 aircraft for Ukraine
The US State Department has approved the decision to provide services to Ukraine for the maintenance of F-16 aircraft and related equipment totaling $266.4 million.
This is stated in the official message of the Security Cooperation and Defense Agency, as reported by Ukrinform.
'The proposed sale (of services and spare parts - ed.) will support the objectives of US foreign policy and national security by enhancing the security of the partner country, which is a driver of political stability and economic progress in Europe,' the document states.
Thus, the American side will fulfill Ukraine's request for the acquisition of the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS); AN/PYQ-10 (SKL) loaders; the Engine Component Improvement Program (CIP). In addition, some modification and maintenance of the aircraft are expected; procurement of spare and repair parts, consumables, and accessories. The service package also includes updates to weapon software, equipment to support this software, classified and unclassified software, delivery of components, staff training, and provision of other services.
Key contractors are identified as Sabena (Belgium), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (USA), and Pratt and Whitney (USA).
'The implementation of the proposed sale will not require the appointment of any additional representatives of the US government or contractor directly in Ukraine,' the message states.
